From Persian farsi "Pharisaic" and dan i.e. "knowing Pharisaic", "speaking Pharisaic". It was also used as a common name meaning "Pharisaic translator", later it changed into proper name. As a name it wasn't used in Persia. F>p sound alter proves that this name came through Georgia which is still in use there. In Arm only the surname Parsadanyan is used.
