From the name of Assyrian legendary queen (Samiram, Samiramoth). The name Shamiram is not etymologically established. According to the popular belief she was a clever and powerful woman who led numerous wars and captured many countries. Shaamiram was very beautiful so she was called a witch. Her name is connected with Armenian Ara king in M. Khorenatsi's "Armenian History".
